Used for "hard" surfaces, such as metal, glass and certain hard plastics (Lexan, Vinyl, acrylic, phenolic, epoxy paint). 3M 468 is the most common adhesive for metal property ID plates. It is 5 mils thick and is suitable for rough surfaces. 3M 467. This is the same adhesive as 3M 468, but in a 2 mils thickness. 3M 467 is suitable for smooth metal or "hard" plastic surfaces. 3M 9471. Use 3M 9471 for smooth plastic surfaces, such as polystyrene, polypropylene and Teflon. These "low surface energy" ["LSE"] plastics need a softer adhesive; 3M 9472. This is the same adhesive as the 3M 9471, but in a thick 5 mils version, making 9472 suitable for rough LSE surfaces.
